Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible individual to join thier partners working as a Sludge Treatment Team Leader within the Operational Team in the Grampian area.

In the northeast of Scotland, our client operates and maintains a network of Waste Water Treatment works and pumping stations serving various communities in and around Aberdeen. Each

day they provide treatment to over 110,000 m3 of liquid waste before discharge to sea or river and actively protect the aquatic ecosystems of the region. They are known for excellent standards with ISO90001, ISO14001 and ISO45001.

Our client is seeking a Leader with high drive, energy and determination to lead the highly skilled Operations Sludge Treatment Team at one of Scotland's largest treatment works, safely operating sludge treatment assets 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.

The Sludge Treatment Centre receives sewage sludges from across North East Scotland, treating them to the highest global standards and recycling to agriculture. Your role is essential to comply with regulations, Biosolids Assurance Scheme and industry best practise.

Your primary responsibility is to drive Health, Safety and Wellbeing improvements within your team of six Technicians, and across the wider site. You will ensure that all activities are carried out to the highest standards, and all staff, contractors and visitors stay safe and well.

You will use your skills to Lead planned and reactive tasks within timescale, quality and cost parameters, leading initiatives to improve efficiencies and reduce risks on site.

You will build and maintain relationships with regulators, customers, colleagues, suppliers and subcontractors.

Their impact on their neighbours is of paramount importance, and you will be expected to manage

activities and maintain housekeeping standards to the benefit of stakeholders.

This role commands annual operating expenditure of £1M, which you will control and ensure that you deliver the Business Plan that you set each year.

This role is primarily based at their site in Nigg, Aberdeen, although on occasion may require you to other sites in Scotland where you will manage and prioritise your own workload.

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required

You will be working with process industry equipment, and it is essential that you have a background in Operational or Maintenance activities in Water, Wastewater or Process environments.

Sludge treatment experience in thermal hydrolysis, anaerobic digestion and combined heat and power systems is desirable.

It is essential that you are natural Leader, ideally with experience of managing a team to deliver

sustainable performance against challenging targets.

You will have experience of Leading and embedding change, influencing, and driving the right culture and behaviours.

You will also have advanced Persuasion and Influencing skills, with a proven history of driving Operational improvements in quality, efficiencies and cost reduction through improved ways of working. You will achieve this through clearly setting and communicating your expectations, inspiring others to succeed, and openly celebrating success.

Robust financial management and commercial awareness skills are needed to form the foundation of all business decisions.

Incident management experience is also ideal in order to identify and minimise environmental and

customer impact and restore services as quickly and effectively as possible.

Previous beneficial experience includes Control of Contractors and Permits, as well as work with Steam and Pressure systems.

You will have a full, clean UK/EU driving licence and are required to undertake pre-employment checks.
