Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer for a 6 Month Fixed Term Staff Contract based in Barrow In Furness working a 7/7 Rota.

  • The Senior Process Engineer is a role within the Operations Support Team and as such provides support to both the Offshore and Onshore assets.R esponsible for providing engineering support to the execution teams running the assets with the aim of optimising production, remaining in compliance with operating conditions. Responsible for reviewing and approving process deviations, inhibits and non-routine operations.


  • Responsible for monitoring and managing plant equipment/system performance and ensuring reliable, efficient equipment as well as identifying and providing cost-effective engineering solutions to plant operations and processing issues.
  • Provision of qualified engineering advice and approval of engineering changes, maintenance deferrals, ORSs etc as per authorisation/approval levels.
  • Responsible for discipline engineering support to the assets / asset maintenance engineers
  • Responsible for Technical Controlling documents. Collaborate closely with the Technical function.
  • Accountable for the delivery and quality of all Process equipment engineering work (internal and external) for operated assets and projects.
  • Accountable for Process engineering budget, brownfields capex budget, holds asset accountability for ensuring project delivery is as expected against sanctioned business case, and brownfields work plans are integrated into the asset plans and supported by the asset operations teams.
  • Accountable for Process engineering MOC's and resulting modifications; 'customer' for engineering Brownfield modifications projects and responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, to cost, and meet the asset requirement.
  • Provides clear direction and assurance to compliance with statutory legislation in respect of Major Accident Hazard management
  • Act as custodian of Process engineering standards and Asset Engineering documentation and assure their compliance.
  • Recommends and delivers Process improvement initiatives and executes engineering studies on behalf of the asset.
  • Lead, engage and participate in the operational improvement process (HAZOPs/HAZIDs) to optimise discipline specific engineering support.
  • Assist with resolution of operational problems, including participation in and close-out of accident/incident investigations and equipment failure RCA
  • Manage relevant support contracts.
  • Accountable for ensuring performance standards are accurate and adhered to via the Inspection, Test and Maintenance programme
  • Accountable for assuring regulatory compliance, adhering to standards and implementing industry best practice
  • Review, amend and approve non-routine operation (NRO) procedures for annual shutdown and as required during the operating season.
  • Significant experience in client/operator relationships and in the management of contractors
  • Ability to resolve complex problems in a range of contexts from conceptual design to operational facilities

Skills / Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree
  • Professional accredited Engineer.
  • Considerable relevant experience of the oil and gas industry, predominately gained in an engineering and production operations environment.
  • Good working knowledge and application of relevant UK oil and gas industry regulations
  • Familiarity with quality process and application of continuous improvement tools is desirable
  • The job holder must possess extensive knowledge of Engineering technical practices and legislation

Knowledge of all forms of engineering documentation.
