Due to the award of new projects, a leading R&D company has a new vacancy for a Senior Power Electronics Engineer. Working on a number of innovative projects focusing on future technologies you will be part of the senior team and will be responsible for leading the design and development of power electronic products.
Commutable from: Cardiff, Bristol, Gloucester, Abergavenny, Caerphilly, Chepstow, Newport, Bridgend, Monmouth.
Salary: £ 50,000 - £ 65,000 p.a. + 10% pension + private healthcare + 36 days holiday (inc Bank holidays)
Suitable for: Power Electronics Engineer, Senior Power Electronics Engineer, Principal Power Electronics Engineer.
The Role
Working on a number of innovative programmes you will be working closely with all stakeholders and will take technical ownership of power electronics from concept, development through to validation and delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leadership of power electronic circuits, through concept, development and validation
Provide technical delivery of development activities to meet timescale and cost targets for R&D products
Translate basic specifications into circuit topologies to optimise converter power efficient and power density
Assess PCB designs to optimise electromagnetic and thermal performance.
Design, modelling and simulation activities
Collaborate with other engineering functions on cross functional projects
Technical Reporting to project team and wider audience to demonstrate regular progress.
Responsible for materials, design and delivery of sub-assemblies contributing towards Engineering Evaluation Modules
Technical risk assessment
The Candidate
Power electronics engineering industry experience with proven ability to deliver power converters / motor drive systems projects / work packages
Experience in mathematical modelling and simulation of circuits and systems
Experience in multi-discipline engineering activities including package / PCB / mechanical and software design
Industrially proven analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to quickly understand complex issues and to propose solutions.
