Tradewind are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker on a full time basis starting as soon as possible!
The right person will have some experience supporting children or adults in education or care and will have up to date Moving & Handling training.
This SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker post in Manchester is to start ASAP on a full time basis and could eventually go permanent for the right person. You will be paid up to £80/day while working through Tradewind on a supply basis. Times are 8:30am-3:30pm Monday to Friday.
To join us and be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant / Support Worker role, you will need to:
Have an enhanced DBS Disclosure (or be happy to apply for a new one), Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks.
Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained.
Have the legal right to work in the UK.
About the role
You will be supporting a 16 year old pupil on a 1:1 basis that requires Moving & Handling support using a wheelchair and hoist. He has suffered significant trauma as a result of an accident that has caused him to have a double lower limb amputation, burns and congnitive impairmet. You will be required to offer care support as well as support while in the school accessing lessons based around physical, sensory, communication and academic improvement.

This is a special needs secondary school that caters for young people with medical needs, physical impairment as a result of injuries and mental health needs. They are a school for young people that can't access mainstream education for either short or long periods of time and the school focuses on trying to equip their young people for a return to mainstream education where possible or on to a longer term placement in special school or alternative provision.
