About The Company:
A Legal Regulator based in Birmingham is looking for Regulatory Officers to provide support to the Investigation & Supervision Unit and to Investigation Officers through initial engagement on investigations, gathering, and critically analysing evidence and engaging both internally and externally to stakeholders. Additionally, responding to post on closed matters, complaints and other general support tasks.
About The Regulatory Officer Role:
Analyse reports of misconduct within tight deadlines, identify risks and next steps risks, to determine whether action should be taken by an Investigation Officer.
Initial progression of cases through gathering evidence including communicating with the complainant, regulated community and associated third parties both verbally and in writing.
Write letters and reports to high standards to matters where no regulatory outcome is required setting out analysis behind decision
Write reports to a high standard detailing an initial investigation strategy assessing evidence obtained to allow further progression of the matter by Regulatory Supervisor
Analyse post on closed matters identifying further regulatory considerations and communication of decisions to informants verbally and in writing
Dealing with reports about Scams and drafting Scam Alerts for our website
Supporting Regulatory Supervision via review of voluminous materials and preparing summary reports and / or identifying key evidence
Establish credibility with firms, internal and external stakeholders.
Provision of administration tasks associated with file management and allocation of work across the unit
Experience/ Skills required for the Regulatory Officer Role:
Experience of working within private practice, as either a paralegal or equivalent, or in a comparable regulator.
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing, with the ability to deal with challenging stakeholders.
Experience of analysing information, evidence gathering and decision making.
Highly organised and able to prioritise and progress a high caseload and work effectively, according to risk.
Experience of working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change, and demonstrating resilience and flexibility in changing circumstances
Willingness to learn and develop, taking ownership of own technical development.
Experience of working well under direction and autonomously and collaborating as part of a functional or cross functional team.
Good IT skills.
Relevant academic qualification(s).
