My client are at the forefront of leading edge design and innovation in their field, and due to continued growth in sales and production requirements, they are looking to hire several Machine Setters for their busy manufacturing facility based in Cambridgeshire. As a leading supplier to a huge range of industries within the FMCG, Retail and Promotional markets, the successful candidate will be working within an experienced team and will benefit from genuine investment in their training and development.
Working a 2 shift rotating days or night shift system, your role will be to carry out and complete the changing of tools on a wide range of machines. As the individual responsible for ensuring the tools are changed on time and efficiently, you will work closely with the Production Supervisor in determining the optimum time to complete the change in line with the production plan, and with the minimum of time lost. During the machines operation, you will provide support to the Operator to make required adjustments to maintain quality and productivity, and be responsible for checking 'first off' and subsequent products conform to all of the required quality standards. Part of your role will be to check that the materials, tooling and outer packaging match the specification for each job, and where applicable, make adjustments and repairs to the tools and tooling parts - make new cutting plates, drilling new mounting holes etc - when required.
Ideally you will have a background in machinery setting - either in a packaging, FMCG or precision engineering based environment, and be a proactive advocate of product excellence as part of your job. Strong communication skills are a must, and some form of basic engineering training would be preferred.
