Commissioning Engineer (HV)

As an HV Commissioning Engineer, you will be a key member of the team and will be supporting the delivery of new connections and private network projects at 11kV, 33kV and 132kV across a variety of sectors such as DNO, renewables, industrial and commercial. Additionally, you will manage small work packages, compile Work Packages, Job Instructions, and RAMS, ensuring that individual projects meet safety and technical performance requirements. Your responsibilities include commissioning transformer and switchgear installations, troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed and working closely with installation fitters, jointers, and SAP.
The responsibilities of the Commissioning Engineer will include:
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of transformers and switchgear at 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV by manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform installation and testing of control wiring and control systems.
- Experience in testing Protection Relays, such as Sepam, VIP and Micom
- Possesses problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Capable of managing small work packages independently.
- Provide support for installation activities across the project portfolio.
- Determine specific project commissioning deliverables, tasks, and material/resource requirements.
- Develop a commissioning schedule that aligns with the overall project schedule.
- Prepare Work Packages, Job Instructions, and RAMS.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and technical performance requirements for individual projects.
The Requirements:
- HNC/BTech Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience in Test / Commissioning between 11kv -132kv
- Familiar with main OEM technical standards Schneider, Siemens, Lucy
- Professional experience in the HV industry
- Completed Manual Handling training and Emergency First Aid
- Possess a CSCS/ECS Card
- Hold a full clean driving license
- Ability to read electrical drawings and flow diagrams
What this position is offering:
- A salary of £55,000-£65,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
- Commercial vehicle and fuel card provided
- Remote-based role with travel to sites across the Southeast and Greater London area
- Van tools and PPE were all provided
- Fuel card and accommodation paid for if you stay/work away.
- Monday to Friday 40hrs per week
- Overtime available with x2 on Sundays and Bank Holidays & x1.5 between Monday and Friday
- Door to Door pay
